Another week where TV on DVD releases dominate the market. In fact, there's no truly wide releases making their DVD debut this week and only a handful of limited releases and special editions as well. So it comes as no surprise that it is a TV on DVD release, Supernatural - The Complete Second Season, that wins the DVD Pick of the Week.

Only one film managed to top $10,000 on the per theater chart this weekend, as Triad Election pulled in $10,811 over the weekend and $12,696 since Wednesday, all in one theater.
Zoo just missed that mark with $9,920, but only $7,810 of that came over the weekend.

While wide releases are a dumping ground of mediocrity this week, the limited releases are not scared of the upcoming summer blockbuster season and there are several high quality movies worth checking out.
This includes the Canadian film, Snow Cake, which was delayed from last December to this weekend.

We are again flooded with limited releases this week, most of which were obviously made with Oscar glory in mind. That said, only a few will earn any nominations and none here are likely to be the big winner on Oscar night, but there are still more than a enough to satisfy even the most dedicated cinemaphile.

The last major contender for Oscars opened this week with Dreamgirls. Sure, there are a few films on this week's list made to win Oscars, but with the Golden Globe nominations announced, Dreamgirls is the only real contender opening from now till the end of the year.
