News Stories About Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

DVD Sales - New Releases Flood Sales Chart

2008-09-03

New releases dominated this week's sales chart in a way that is rarely seen. Not only did we have a new number one, but there wasn't a single holdover in the top eight. That new number one was Camp Rock, which sold 535,000 units and generated $8.02 million in revenue. Next up was Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which sold 414,000 units. However, with a higher average price it was actually the number one seller in terms of raw dollars with $9.16 million.

DVD Rentals - Street is Kings of the Rentals

2008-09-03

New releases did well on the rental charts, but they did not dominate in the way they did on the sales chart. We still had a new number one as Street Kings topped the charts with nearly double the revenue of its nearest competitor.

DVD Releases for August 19, 2008, Part II

2008-08-18

This is the week that Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour makes its debut on DVD and Blu-ray. This movie was a huge hit theatrically, so it will be interesting to see how well it sells on the home market. However, while it is certainly a very good deal, I'm not sure it is a real contender for DVD Pick of the Week. For that we have to look to Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles on either DVD or Blu-ray, but there are also a few other releases worth checking out. There are are plenty of other releases, so much so that we had to split this week's list into two. Look for part I here.

Blueberries Take Flight on the Per Theater Chart

2008-04-08

Flight of the Red Balloon rose to the top of the Per Theater Chart this week scoring an average or $17,611 in its two theaters. The only other film to reach the $10,000 mark was My Blueberry Nights with an average of $12,358 in six theaters.

Per Theater Chart is in Contempt

2008-03-18

There were only two films to top $10,000 on the Per Theater Chart this week>. The first was the re-release of Contempt with $14,826. Next was the overall box office leader, Horton Hears a Who, which opened with an average of $11,384.

Per Theater Average Victory is no Walk in the Park

2008-03-11

Paranoid Park opened in first place on the per theater chart with an average of $14,914. The only other film to cross $10,000 was the overall box office leader, 10,000 B.C., with an average of $10,518.

Movie Website Reviews for Weekend of March 7, 2008

2008-03-08

After a slump in site that had much the in way of style, we have two sites that were in contention for the Weekly Website Award. While College Road Trip - Official Site - came close, it was CJ7 - Official Site - that took home the award.

Limited Releases Live for a Weekend

2008-03-07

Big list of limited releases, including one that's opening so wide it could reach the top ten and another that could expand wide later on. I wouldn't put money on either film doing that, but there's certainly a legitimate chance.
