Is it national drug dealer week and no one told me? I have four, count them, four spotlight reviews this week dealing with drug dealers. This includes The French Connection, which is making its debut on Blu-ray this week and is a clear contender for DVD Pick of the Week.
The other main contender is Futurama - Into the Wild Green Yonder on either DVD or Blu-ray. I can't decide which is better, so both are awarded the DVD Pick of the Week. As is the case more often than not, this week's list of reviews has to be split into two with part two found here.

During its record-breaking weekend, The Dark Knight set the record for best per theater average for a wide releases, so it comes as no surprise it tops the per theater chart this weekend, and did so with $36,283. The only other film to top $10,000 was Transsiberian with an average of $17,308 in two theaters while Before I Forget came close with $9,676 in one theater.

There were a lot of movies released this week, and while not all of them had real sites, it was still busier than usual. No one site really wowed this week, but The Dark Knight's Official Site, plus its two side sites combined into an award worthy effort.

Another week without an obvious breakout hit. I'm starting to think we won't have one this summer. Perhaps Hamlet 2 will have what it takes, but as for this week, there are a large number of releases, but none that are opening in more than 2 theaters and very few are earning overwhelmingly positive reviews.
