2007 continues its slow start with little in the way of quality first run releases.
The only one that is worth picking up is The Protector - Buy from Amazon, but the quality of the movie is a little low for it to be DVD Pick of the Week.
On the TV on DVD front the best of the best was Doctor Who - The Complete Second Series - Buy from Amazon, but here the price is a little high, which lowers its appeal.
To find the DVD Pick of the Week you have to dig really deep and come up with Purgatory House, which can be purchased through Amazon or direct from their official site.

As Christmas approaches, each week more and more DVDs are being released that theoretically would make perfect gifts.
But for the DVD Pick of the Week I went with the perfect Re-Gift, Seinfeld - Re-Gift Set.
There are a couple others I would recommend (like the King Kong - Collector's Edition), but overall it feels like a really slow week.

hampion, Thirteen, was joined by three others that cracked the $10,000 per theater average mark, with one other film just missing that feat. Thirteen's weekend box office of $116 thousand was earned in just 5 theaters giving it an average of $23,252.
Dropping to second place was American Splendor. Its average held up amazingly well considering that its theater count increased five-fold. With an average of $14,199 at 32 theaters, American Splendor looks poised to enjoy some mainstream success.
A couple of interesting notes:
Not one wide release was able to crack the top ten this week, in fact Open Range had the best at 18th place, (or 15th if you don't count IMAX.)
Winged Migration climbed above $10,000 per theater in its 19th week. It hadn't hit that mark since mid-May. It did this when its theater count dropped by 80% while its box office actually increased.

the-numbers.com/movies/2003/MTRX2.php>Matrix Reloaded’s massive opening not only crushed the competition at the box office, its $25,471 per theatre average was more than doubled its nearest competitor on the Per Theater Average Charts. The next best movie was by the Oscar nominated documentary, Winged Migration, which was the only other movie to beat $10,000 per theatre this week.

F=http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2003/XMEN2.php>X-Men 2win the total box office race, it won the per theatre average with $22,870. The only other movie to come close was Spellbound with $17,508 in its only theatre. Winged Migration, which finished first the last two weeks was down to third with an average of $11,312 in 8 theatres.

This weekend none of the new films opening wide, or in limited release were able to do much on the per theater average chart. This allowed Winged Migration to claim top spot again despite a very large drop in its average. The Oscar-nominated documentary earned less than its opening weekend despite doubling it’s theater count to 2. However, it’s per theater average of $15,901 was still tops this week. Cremaster 3, with $11,047 in its only theater, and Ghosts of the Abyss with a little more than $1 million in 97 theatres were the only other two films to average more than $10,000 per theatre this week.
Next week, expect X-Men 2 to lead not only the total box office, but the per theater average as well.

probably the weirdest one - two finish on the Per Theatre Average chart. Coming in first was the Oscar nominated documentary Winged Migration. The documentary earned $33,128 in its only theatre. In second place was the Folk Music Mockumentary, A Mighty Wind. The partially improvisational mockumentary made over $2 million in just 133 theatres for an average of $15,880.

k promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here’s a list of highlights, plus one last look at websites for films opening this week. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.
Bulletproof Monk
Current Content: No change from when I reviewed it last. Movie clips are still marked coming soon.
Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
Current Content: The new full-length trailer is up, as is some more photos and wallpapers. The animated adventures and games are still coming soon.
Finding Nemo
Current Content: The latest from Pixar studios, this site has a synopsis / behind the scenes section, three trailers, character bios, gallery, fish facts and a one game, with more to come. Also, when you move the cursor bubbles come out, which is a nice touch. There are also sounds of the ocean playing in the background, which you can not only turn on, and off, but adjust the volume. It’s a simple addition that is very helpful. All in all, this site is truly deserving of the undisputed Weekly Website Award
Holes
Current Content: Another movie opening this week, and another one with no new content since I reviewed it last. It’s still an excellent site and worth checking out.
Hollywood Homicide
Current Content: Still two months away, so the fact that there’s just a trailer so far is not a shock.
Hypnotic
Current Content: Along with the usual information (Cast and crew bios, synopsis, trailer) there are behinds the scenes information and a gallery in Java format. There are also five ‘disturbing’ images that are distorted (sometimes based on mouse movements.) While you are watching these images there’s creepy music playing in the background. I think the site would have benefited if that music were playing all the time.
The In-Laws
Current Content: A new flash site was launched, and while there is plenty of information (synopsis, cast and crew bios) and multimedia (trailer, poster, photo gallery) and downloads (wallpapers and buddy icons) there are even more features marked coming soon.
Jeepers Creepers 2
Current Content: New format, but the only new content is three e-cards.
The Lizzie McGuire Movie
Current Content: This week a flash site was activated, and while there’s a new format, most of the content is the same. There are some new photos and character bios to read, and a couple of sections marked coming soon.
Malibu’s Most Wanted
Current Content: A very well done flash site with a lot of multimedia content. A trailer, a beer commercial featuring B-Rad G, and a clip from the movie are all on the site. There’s also a link to B-Rad G’s personal site, which has even more clips from the movie and Jamie Kennedy Experiment. There’s also songs from his CD Malibootay. While there certainly is a lot here, it all seems very much the same.
S.W.A.T.
Current Content: Just the trailer, but the movie is months away, so that should change.
Winged Migrations
Current Content: Flash site with mostly behind the scene information - what birds are featured, their migratory paths, how the shots were taken, and a statement director and his bio. There are also a lot of links for more bird information if this site doesn’t have enough. From the more traditional website fare, we have the trailer and a couple of wallpapers to download.
