News Stories About Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

DVD Releases for September 26, 2006

2006-09-26

It was a difficult week to come up with a winner for the DVD Pick of the Week. This was partially because of the huge list of movies being released tomorrow and partially because I'm on cold medication. There were several contenders for the honor but in the end I went with Lady Vengeance - Buy from Amazon and Masters of Horror - Imprint - Buy from Amazon. But be warned, their extreme storytelling means that they are not for everyone.

Army of Newcomers on the Per Theatre Charts

2006-05-02

There were three films in the $10,000 club, and all of them were new releases led by Army of Shadows with $12,620 in its lone theatre. In second place was the Canadian / India co-production, Water, which earned $56,000 in five theatres for an average of $11,256. The final film was The Lost City with and average of $10,642 in 18 theatres.

Movie Website Updates for April 21 - April 28

2006-04-28

The first of the new Friday edition Weekly Website Review column is here, but not without a hitch. We had a bit of a power outage early in the day so I did what any modern man would do when faced with the prospects of going without the Internet for an undetermined amount of time, I took a nap. Fortunately, I was mostly done before the power went out so there was no real affect on this week's list, but I am starting to this that this column is cursed. As for the list, its pretty average with the best of the bunch being A Scanner Darkly - Official Site.

Limited Releases - Back with a Vengeance

2006-04-27

It's a very busy week for limited releases. While there are many films on this week's list, and several of them are earning glowing reviews, there's not much here that looks likely to breakout and earn some mainstream success.

Movie Website Updates for April 14 - April 20

2006-04-20

Another slow week and either I've lost my mojo for finding new and updated sites, or this is the calm before the storm that is the summer box office season. And speaking of Storm, the best of the bunch this week is X-Men: The Last Stand - Official Site.

Movie Website Updates for April 7 - April 13

2006-04-13

Back to normal levels of traffic on this list, but like last week there's not an over abundance of huge sites on this week's list. I hope that changes soon as the summer box office season is just around the corner. The best of the bunch this week is Hard Candy - Official Site, which has been slowly growing for months.

Surprise Twist on the International Charts

2005-10-30

Oliver Twist opened in two major markets over the weekend, placing second in both France with $2.4 million on 547 screens and Italy with $1.3 million on 301 screens. Other markets include $360,000 in the U.K. for a $3.6 million total there and $140,000 in Poland for $1.1 million. Add it up and you have $4.2 million for the weekend and $9.6 million in total.

Brothers are not so Grimm

2005-10-23

The Brothers Grimm dropped just 35% during its second weekend in France adding $2.1 million to its $5.7 million total there. In Germany, the film performed a nearly the same level falling 36% to $950,000 over the weekend and $2.9 million during its run. Overall the film made $4 million for a $27.8 million runny tally and that places it fourth on this week's charts. While the film struggled domestically, it is doing quite a bit better on the international scene, and could show a profit sometime during its home market run.
