This includes two Jim Henson films, Labyrinth - Anniversay Edition and The Dark Crystal - 25th Anniversary Edition, but the best of the best is Taxi Driver - Two-Disc Collector's Edition.

There was a troubling lack of final results this week and this results in a few studio estimates with some of the numbers. However, it appears that Black House was able to place fourth on the international charts after winning the box office race in South Korea The film was able to top its native market with $2.71 million on 325 screens over the weekend and $3.35 million in total.

Spider-Man 3 fell out of the top five for the first time during its run, but since it has already hit $500 million internationally and is closing in on $900 million worldwide, this is hardly a reason to panic. Over the weekend the film added $3.02 million on 3914 screens in 65 markets for a total of $543.87 million, putting it in 11th place all time, just behind Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings. Worldwide the film had $873.88 million at the end of the weekend, which means it also places 11th on that all-time chart, but will top Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets before long.

Spider-Man 3 earned a comfortable second place earning almost as much as the rest of the films on this list with $21.07 million on 10,365 screens in 76 markets for a total of $501.00 million. It is only the 14th film to reach that milestone while it became the 16th film to top $800 million worldwide and has already climbed into 14th place overall. The U.K. regained the lead as the best market for the film adding $2.58 million on 460 screens for a total of $61.09 million. Japan took in $2.36 million on 630 screens while France made $2.31 million on 866 screens as the only other two markets to top $2 million over the weekend and the film now has $47.79 million and $48.55 million respectively. There were a quartet of led by Brazil, ($1.29 million for the weekend and $21.55 million in total); Spain, ($1.29 million / $22.49 million); Mexico, ($1.22 million / $32.90 million); and Germany, ($1.01 million / $27.16 million).

Mr. Bean's Holiday fell one spot out of the top five this weekend despite showing some significant growth. The film did have a few openings, including a third place $165,000 debut on 56 screens in Turkey, but its biggest market was Germany where it grew 44% to $651,000 on 577 screens for the weekend and $22.52 million in total. Overall the film added $3.47 million on 2634 screens in 43 markets for a total of $176.19 million internationally with debuts in South Korea, Japan, and China, yet to come, (and of course it doesn't open here till August).

Spider-Man 3's performance at the international box office at the weekend was even more dominant than its domestic performance.
Over the weekend, the film added $84.27 million on 13,799 screens in 73 markets for a total of $385.43 million, which puts it on pace to become the biggest hit of the franchise by this weekend.
Worldwide, the film hit $625.66 million at the end of the weekend, and should also top the previous releases before long.
On the all-time charts, the film is now in 24th place and should catch the 23rd place film (Spider-Man 2), and the 22nd place film ( Spider-Man), before long while it could grab a temporary spot in the top ten.
Worldwide, it currently ranks 28th with eyes on Attack of the Clones.

With Spider-Man 3 dominating the global market last weekend, there was very little else happening on the international charts that was newsworthy. With little in the way of new releases, or even expansion for holdovers, it was impossible just to fill out a top 30 chart. And with several films expected to attempt a worldwide opening over the next couple months, it will likely be that way till mid-August.

There was a very close one-two punch at the international box office this past weekend with Wild Hogs just beating out Mr. Bean's Holiday $7.62 million to $7.42 million.
Hogs had only one mid-level opening this weekend, but pulling in $74,000 on 47 screens in Turkey is barely worth noting.
On the other hand, the film added $1.68 million on 583 screens in Germany to its two-week total of $5.28 million while adding $1.31 million on 412 screens in the U.K. for a three-week total of $8.54 million.
Overall it earned $7.62 million on 385 screens in 40 markets for a running tally of $55.43 million.

With Spider-man 3 just around the corner, theater owners worldwide are clearing room for what is expected to be a record-breaking run.
This has led to a recent downturn in the box office both domestically and internationally.
Even so, there are a few reasons to celebrate, including the continued strong performance by Mr. Bean's Holiday, which remained in top spot for the fourth weekend in a row, pulling in $13.51 million on 5,928 screens in 44 markets for a total of $145.30 million.
That was enough, in the end, to beat Wild Hogs into second place.

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate for Mr. Bean's Holiday at the weekend.
Not only was it able to remain in top spot for the third weekend in a row, but it was also able to crack $100 million at the international box office and is currently sitting at $125.95 million.
On the other hand, the film did suffer a 45% drop-off to $17.06 million on 4,211 screens in 45 markets, but that was largely due to the lack of major openings.
Its best market of the weekend remained the U.K. despite the fact that it was pushed into second place with $3.03 million on 507 screens for a total of $36.29 million.
Meanwhile, it also performed well in Germany ($2.11 million on 844 screens), Australia ($1.91 million on 342 screens), and Italy ($1.41 million on 429).

Wild Hogs had its best performance of its run so far climbing into sixth place with $3.33 million on 817 screens in 8 markets for a total of $18.43 million after a month of release. About half of that came from the film's number one debut in Mexico where it earned $1.33 million on 355 screens over the weekend and $1.67 million including previews while the film did reasonable business in Taiwan with $345,000 on 40. Its best market to date has been Australia where the film has earned $11.30 million, including $907,000 on 263 screens this past weekend.

Norbit saw its weekend haul sliced neatly in half landing in sixth place with $4.09 million on 2270 screens in 39 markets for a total of $49.38 million. The film wasn't able to crack $1 million in any single market, but Italy came the closest with $940,000 on 263 screens for a two-week total of $3.19 million.

March ended on a similar tone as it began, but not as strong as recent weeks.
Overall the weekend total gross was $128 million, down 5% from last weekend.
That is also down 10% from the same weekend last year.
However, it is important to note that was the weekend Ice Age: The Meltdown opened with nearly $70 million and 2007 is still 6% ahead of 2006's pace.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started its international run this past weekend and just missed the top five on debut.
It did manage $3.92 million on 1,004 screens in 8 markets over the weekend and $4.53 million including previews.
Of this box office, nearly half of it came from a pair of third place openings in England ($1.27 million on 368 screens over the weekend and $1.86 million in total), and Australia ($379,000 on 58 screens).
The film also opened in Russia where the strong mutant demographic helped the film capture second place with $1.38 million on 360 screens.
(That was a Chernobyl joke, by the way.)

March started like a lion when Wild Hogs opened to nearly $40 million and was even more ferocious the weekend after that when 300 broke records. It is folklore that if March starts like a lion, it ends like a lamb. So what does this mean for this week's box office? Nothing, it's just folklore. The box office looks very vigorous this weekend with two top-tier releases opening at saturation level (3,000 or more theaters).
As an added bonus, both films are aimed at different target demographics, so both could be big hits.

Six wide releases in a single weekend appears to have been at least three too many as most struggled at the box office.
On the other hand, with so many new films opening and so many different demographics being targeted, it was a good week at the box office overall with receipts hitting $133 million, up 14% from last week and 22% from last year.
Year-to-date revenue has already hit $2 billion and is clocking in at nearly 6% higher than last year's pace.
More importantly, the number of big hits is increasing interest, and that can have a positive effect on future earnings.
I feel confident in saying records will fall this year.

The French film, Taxi 4, just missed the top five with $3.94 million on 1255 screens in 7 markets for a total of $49.56 million. Obviously, most of that has come from France, $35.70 million in fact, but the film is also doing well in Russia with $10.63 million so far, including $2.22 million on 466 screens over the weekend.

There are six films opening in wide release this week, or at some level of wide release.
This is at least three too many, and to make matters worse, several share target demographics.
This insanity will mean that at least two films, possibly more, will fail to reach their potential.
It also makes predicting the weekend extremely difficult because of the extra variables.
Will Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeal to just the younger crowd, or will fans of the original series also show up?
If so, will this cut into the box office of The Hills Have Eyes 2 and Shooter?
There's a lot to consider here.

This proved to be a double milestone weekend, and a record breaker at that.
Two films, 300 and Wild Hogs hit $100 million this weekend.
Wild Hogs reached that milestone on Sunday the 18th of March, making it the earliest in a year for three new releases to have crossed $100 million.
(The previous record was in 2003 when Daredevil made it there early in April.)
Overall the box office was also hot, taking in $118 million.
Granted, that is down 23% from last weekend, but it was up 10% from the same weekend last year, which is a much more important figure.

There was quite an international flavor on the charts this past weekend with five local hits charting, and one more just missing that mark. The best of these was Lubov Morkov, which opened in sixth place with $5.38 million on 492 screens in 4 markets over the weekend and $6.28 million in total. Of this amount, $4.90 million on 427 screens was earned over the weekend in Russia while it managed $5.80 million including midweek numbers.

That's down nearly 60% from last weekend.
None of the openers came close to challenging it for the box office crown though.
Wild Hogs held on to second place with $18.8 million, just ahead of Premonition's $18 million opening.
The other openers, Dead Silence and I Think I Love My Wife scored about in line with expectations, with $7.8 million and $5.7 million respectively.

Three wide releases are opening this weekend, but none seem to have what it takes to overtake 300. On the other hand, none look like they will bomb either with all three tracking to finish in the top five. Even more importantly, the overall box office looks robust and should have an easy time keeping up with last year's pace.

The weekend was rather predictable, with three of the top five landing within a rounding error of expectations and another finishing close enough to call it a victory. ...
OK, I got skunked on 300, but I think I know why.
That film's record-breaking opening helped push the overall box office to $153 million over the weekend, up 23% from last weekend and 39% from the same weekend last year.
As for the yearly trend, we have seeing a lot more massive hits coming out this year than expected.
This could be a portent of things to come, and that would mean we might have more than a dozen films top $200 million this summer alone.

One of the most talked about March movies opens this weekend, but there are some concerns regarding 300's ability to turn this talk into box office dollars.
Should it fail to do so, Wild Hogs will be right there looking to become the second biker movie in a row to repeat at the top of the charts.

The overall box office leader, Wild Hogs, also led the per theater chart with $12,078.
