During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner, Dust to Glory - Official Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.
Après Vous
Current Content: Typical Paramount Classics placeholder site with no real content.
Ask the Dust
Current Content: See above.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Current Content: Some concept art was added to the site.
Cursed
Current Content: The movie comes out on Friday and so far the site has just the trailer. Not a good sign.
Diary of a Mad Black Woman
Current Content: Two more diary entries were added to the site just in time for tomorrow's debut. And it looks like there will be plenty more entries as the film plays in theatres.
Dust to Glory
Current Content: The flash site re-launched with a whole new design. This site is better than the old one, and the old one was pretty good to begin with. The synopsis is there, as are bios for all the racers, (including video clips for each for ten clips in total), information on the vehicles, trailer and more. Marked coming soon is the information on the production team and a section called Baja 1000 tour, (which should be the most interesting feature when it is added.) Improving the overall effect of the site are the sounds, which include some good background music as well as some effects and a touch of animation, mostly in the form of sweeps and fades. Add it all up and you get the winner of the exhausting Weekly Website Award.
Fantastic Four
Current Content: There's a new international trailer, but its not as impressive as the earlier one. No offense to Michael Chiklis but The Thing just doesn't work, maybe they are still working on the effects in post-production.
House of D
Current Content: Just the synopsis, small image gallery and the trailer so far. The trailer looks ok, but it's David Duchovny transition from acting to directing, and that can be a very bumpy ride.
House of Wax
Current Content: The trailer and the poster were added. The trailer was almost exactly what I was expecting, which is not really a complement. It had too much of a cliché feel for my liking.
Kung Fu Hustle
Current Content: New URL, new site, same award winning site. All the old features are there, but there are problems with the games. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.
Mad Hot Ballroom
Current Content: Typical Paramount Classics placeholder site with no real content.
Madagascar
Current Content: There's a new trailer on the site, still not stoked about the film though. The animation styles just isn't doing it for me.
Man of the House
Current Content: The movie opens tomorrow so I was looking for some updates this week, but there's nothing there. And I don't mean no updates, I mean the site is gone. I'll check back later to see if the site is back. … Further testing reveals that all Sony websites are down at the moment. … Site's back. And just in time for tomorrow's debut some images and a five minute clip of the movie was added.
The Ring 2
Current Content: All four sections are on the site but still nothing happens when I click on them. I assume it's a matter of browser compatibility.
Robots
Current Content: Two of the mini-games were added, as was the main interactive feature. You must explore the city looking for parts to the Wonderbot. So far just a couple of places are active.
Serenity
Current Content: The logo has changed on the main site and Browncoats section has links to two reviews. Of course, these are based on test screenings without complete special effects and the like, so take them with a grain of salt, still looks promising.
Smile
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it has most of the usual information, (synopsis, cast and crew bios, image gallery and trailer.) The site also has just enough sound and animation to keep a surfer's attention, but not much more. One minor complaint, you have to scroll through the cast and crew bios and can not choose which one to read next.
Stealth
Current Content: So far just the trailer and poster are on the site.
Tideland
Current Content: An interview with director Terry Gilliam was added to the site. It's just a few minute long broken up into three parts.
Up and Down
Current Content: Has the same format as the typical Paramount Classics placeholder site with just the synopsis, image gallery and trailer.
Winter Solstice
Current Content: Typical Paramount Classics placeholder site with no real content.
With Friends Like These
Current Content: A very simple site with little in the way of content. The film has the synopsis, cast and crew list with links to IMDb.com, biography of the director, press and trailer.
