Twelve is the New One

April 23, 2005

Ocean Twelve easily took top spot on both the DVD, VHS rental charts as well as the DVD sales charts. On the rental side the sequel brought in $10.10 million in DVD rentals and $1.25 million in VHS rentals, nearly double its nearest competitor. On the sales side exact numbers are unknown, but it was so popular that the original rode the wave into the top ten.

Spanglish rose a spot to second with $5.92 million in combined rental numbers, just ahead of last week's winner, Sideways, which added $5.36 in combined rentals. Next up is Elektra with $4.73 million this week for a $12.4 million two week total, nearly half of what it earned domestically. Rounding out the top five was the second new release of the week, Hotel Rwanda with $4.49 million.

Two other new release made it into the top twenty, Suspect Zero and The Woodsman with $3.07 million and $1.28 million respectively. Both films should top their domestic box offices soon, the latter film probably already has.

As already stated, Ocean Twelve took top spot on the weekly DVD sales charts, followed by last week's winner, Sideways. Hotel Rwanda finished in third place just ahead of Elektra and The Incredibles.
