Movie Website Updates for September 30 - October 6

October 6, 2005

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner, Waiting... - Official Site.

All the King's Men
Just a placeholder site with no real features.

Cheaper By The Dozen 2
Just the synopsis and the trailer so far.

Clerk 2: The Passion of the Clerks
Another four video clips were added to the video journal. And here I was expecting one a week, at most. A word of warning, there is a lot of swearing in these videos, so don't watch them at work.

Doom
The flash is us, and because it uses some of the first person perspective from the game / movie, it stands out a bit more than most. I did find a flaw, whenever you select the clips / behind-the-scene clips you are instead taken to the trailer, hopefully that will be fixed by next week. I'm reserving full judgment till the games are added, but if the games are as good as I think they could be, then this will be an award-winning site.

Elizabethtown
The rest of the regular features were added to the site leaving just the interviews marked coming soon.

Good Night, and Good Luck
The first of two TV spots was added to the site.

The Gospel
A pretty good site with a heavy influence on the music, which should surprise nobody. There are also a few interview clips, which puts the site well above the average and very close to the award winner this weekend.

Guy X
Interesting design with all the usual features. The site is divided into three sections, the main section has Jason Biggs, whom you can torment by clicking the random objects on the screen. To the right you have the usual features, and to the left you have a flock of Puffins that you can adopt.

In a Dark Place
Just the teaser trailer so far.

In Her Shoes
Good site that hits all the right marks, but there's not enough here to make it stand out enough to win the award.

Leonard Choen I'm Your Man
There's the poster and a clip plus links to the message board and the director's log.

National Lampoon's Adam & Eve
Just the synopsis, cast & crew bios and the image gallery with the trailer marked coming soon. At least the background music is better than most sites with several songs to choose from.

National Lampoon's Pledge This
The site isn't bad with all of the usual features, (synopsis, cast bios, image gallery, and trailer) but the movie itself looks horrendous.

The Pink Panther
The placeholder site has been completely redone, but it is a step back in terms of content.

Rumor Has It
The placeholder site was completely redone and has a bit more style than before.

Saw 2
Two more computer screens were added this week.

The Squid and the Whale
No real changes in a month.

Superman Returns
Nothing but the logo, but that's enough to make the Fanboys squeal with delight.

Three Extremes
All three sections are marked coming soon.

Two for the Money
The website isn't bad, but it has a very generic feel to it, which in many respects is just like the movie.

Waiting...
The employee's lounge was added to the site and with it a short clip. So with one day till the movie opens the site have all the usual features, (synopsis, cast bios, image gallery, and trailer) plus an inventive format that includes a ton of interactivity. Hunting around the site you can find at least four clips from the movie and two games. The first game is the five second rule game, which you can play by clicking the clock in the kitchen and the second it s the food fight, which flies by the Employee Lounge. The site's style is also a plus with everything torn out of pictures and taped onto a white background. The biggest complaint is with the bios where there's a bit too much white background, but that a minor deal and won't stop the site from winning the patient Weekly Website Award.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
The Activities and Behind the Scenes sections were added the site. The former contains a bunch of activities for kids that you can print out and the latter is three featurettes on the behind the scenes.

Yesterday Was a Lie
The trailer was added to the site. This is a film I will be keeping my eye on.
