Sarah's Magical Start
|
There was a surprise leader at the top of the Per Theatre Charts, with Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic earning an impressive average of $17,782 in its 7 theatres.
Next up was Pride and Prejudice, which reached the top ten with $2.9 million in 215 for an average of $13,326. Lastly, there was Gay Sex in the 70s, which actually won last week's race after all the late figures came in; this weekend is added $11,744 to its box office while still playing in the one theatre.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theatre Charts alumni:
- The Squid and the Whale reached $2 million over the weekend and is showing incredible legs.
This film's run is far from over.
- Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang hit $2 million this weekend thanks to its ability to hold onto its Per Theatre Average, and despite its massive increase in its theatre count.
- As I've previously stated, Pride and Prejudice earned over $2 million during its first weekend of release.
- Shopgirl passed $4 million mid-week, and then topped $5 million over the weekend; however, milestones will be increasingly difficult from now on.
- As expected, Capote made it to $5 million on Monday, but what wasn't expected was it had its best weekend at the box office, taking in $1.2 million.
