• There was a bit of a shock in the first category. Okay, everyone knew Brokeback Mountain would earn a nomination, but the same can not be said for Capote. Sure, the film has earned plenty of other nominations, but mostly for acting or writing.
• Also, Crash is earning a fair number of nominations given its early release date.
• There was a huge drop-off in quality for animated films after The Corpse Bride and Wallace & Gromit. The rest of the films honestly feel like filler.
