Neil Young has Golden Weekend

Neil Young: Heart of Gold was the only film to top $10,000 per theatre average this weekend taking in almost $54,000 in 4 theatres for an average of $13,477.

On the other hand, there were a few films that managed to reach a milestone during the past week.

  • The White Countess started slow, but has hung on better than expected hitting $1 million this weekend.
  • Mrs. Henderson Presents saw a 33% drop-off this weekend, but it still had its second best weekend of its run while its total reached $4 million.
  • The Matador is started to shed theatres now, but it did make it to $10 million over the weekend and should have enough gas left to overtake its production budget of $12.5 million before long.
  • Capote was another film to suffer a serious drop-off this week, but it also had the second best weekend of its run while reaching a major milestone. In this case it was the $20 million mark and it could hit $25 million with a little help from the Oscars.
  • One last note, Match Point earned another $1.4 million over the weekend and it now has $18.4 million in total. This isn't a major milestone, but it is more than Crimes and Misdemeanors made and that means it is the biggest hit for Woody Allen since 's Hannah and Her Sisters.
