The overall box office champ, Madea's Family Reunion, also won the weekend Per Theatre Average race with $13,688. Second place went to Tsotsi with and average of $12,721 in six theatres.

Other new releases to make the top ten include Unknown White Male and Little Fish with averages of $6,148 and $6,127 respectively. The anthology of Oscar nominated short films, imaginatively called 2005 Academy Award Nominated Short Films, also did well with $28,571 in 6 theatres for an average of $4,762. On the other hand, Taxi Cab 9211 did poorly, barely making more than $100,000 in 36 theatres for an average of $2,846.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theatre Charts alumni:

• The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada had a massive expansion this weekend, and in a pleasant surprise, its per theatre average didn't collapse. In fact, it earned $1 million over the weekend, taking it to its first milestone of its run.
• Rang De Basanti reached $2 million over the weekend, which is a great result for what is essentially a niche market film.
• The World's Fastest Indian had the best weekend of its release and that helped it also reach $2 million. The film started slow, but has hung on much better than expected and should have no problem reach another milestone or two.
• Transamerica also had its best weekend of its run, making it to $4 million early in the weekend and nearly to $5 million by the end.
• Good Night and Good Luck peaked at the box office a long time ago, but it still was able to hit $30 million over the weekend, all without ever playing in more than 1,000 theatres.
