Raising Victor Vargas opened on top of the Per Theatre Average charts this week with $16,583 per theatre. While that figure is good, it is not good enough to suggest Raising Victor Vargas will have much box office success outside the art house circuit.

Coming in second with a third straight strong performance was Bend it Like Beckham. The British comedy earned more than $600,000 in just 46 theatres, for $13,542 per theatre. Bend it Like Beckham is likely poised to gain some mainstream success as it expands into more theatres.

As predicted, Nowhere in Africa was buoyed by its Oscar win for Best Foreign Language Film. A per theatre average of $8,609 was the best numbers since its debut three weeks ago.
