There were no films able to crack $10,000 on the per theatre charts this week, but one did come close. Inland Empire, an experimental film by David Lynch, opened in Boston on the weekend and took in $27,508 in its 3 theatres for an average of $9,169. Correction - We have been informed that the film was only playing in 2 theatres and not 3 giving the film a per theatre average of $13,754. Sorry for the error.
Only one other new limited release was able to reach the top ten and that was Screamers at $5,902. Off the Black and Family Law were well back at $3,382 and $2,692 respectively. Meanwhile, the widest limited release of the week, Guadalupe, managed just over $300,000 in 225 theatres for am average of just $1,339.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theatre Charts alumni:
- Volver made it to $2 million late in the midweek and should have no trouble reaching $3 million soon. In fact, with a per theatre average of $8,450, it should still expand further.
- Bobby reached $10 million early in the weekend, but that's as far as it will go.
