The Savages easily won the race on the per theater chart, scoring $150,000 in 4 theaters for an average of $37,965, and that's with a Wednesday opening.
Over five days, the film earned an average of just over $46,000.
The only other film to crack $10,000 was The Diving Bell and the Butterfly with $75,000 in three theaters for an average of $25,240.
No other new release came close to $10,000 with The Protagonist leading the best of the rest earning $4,495 in its one theater.
Aaja Nachle was the widest limited release at 66 theaters, but it only managed an average of $3,902.
Three films earned between $2,000 and $1,000: Oswald's Ghost at $1,796, Chronicle of an Escape at $1,307, and The Sasquatch Gang at $1,051.
Finally, Badland missed that mark with just $962.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
- I'm Not There reached $1 million early last week and should hit $2 million before next week.
- As expected, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead topped $4 million over the weekend and will have no trouble getting to $5 million soon.
However, for the first time its weekend haul dipped, which will make future milestones a lot harder.
- Lars and the Real Girl made it all the way to $5 million, which is an impressive feat. However, that might not be enough to get it noticed during award season.
