Awards Season - Guilds Get into the Act
|
The final three guilds handed out their nominations over the past week and while most deal with television, there are a handful of theatrical nominations for each of the Directors Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, and the Writers Guild of America.
The categories and nominations are...
DGA...
Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a Feature Film
Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a Documentary
Notes...
PGA...
The Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in the Theatrical Motion Pictures
The Producer of the Year Award in Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures
The Producer of the Year Award in Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures
Notes...
- And yet another nomination for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly; if it doesn't pick up an Oscar nomination or two, it will be a huge shock after all of this.
- Apparently no one directed Juno cause it seems to pick up a lot of nominations for best picture, but Jason Reitman continues to be shut out for best director.
- Ratatouille is practically a lock for at least an Oscar nomination.
WGA...
Original Screenply
Adapted Screenplay
Documetnary Screenplay
Notes...
- And we have the third nomination for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
- Zodiac's nomination was a bit of a shock. Not that it didn't earn the nomination, but I figured not enough people would remember it.
- Sicko earned two nominations on this list. It is easily the highest profile documentary to be recognized by the guilds, but I don't think it is the odds on favorite to win.
