Juno nearly climbed into the top five with $7.08 million on 1745 screens in 25 markets for a total of $39.17 million. This includes a surprise first place opening in Brazil with $808,000 on 146 screens over the weekend and $1.26 million in total. On the other hand, it struggled in South Korea with $222,000 on 203 screens over the weekend and $283,000 in total. As for holdovers, the film was down just 7% in Mexico to $454,000 on 150 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $1.37 million while it added $2.11 million on 368 screens in the U.K. for a total of $13.41 million there.
- Thanks to second place openings in Australia and Brazil, The Bucket List climbed to seven place overall with $5.70 million on 1973 screens in 26 markets and now has $34.76 million after a month of release. In the former market it earned $1.56 million on 255 screens while in the latter it earned $731,000 on 113 screens.
- The Water Horse: Legend Of The Deep also climbed into the top ten earning $5.54 million on 2362 screens in 32 markets for a total of $32.83 million. The film grew by more than 20% in France to $1.22 million on 284 screens for a total of $2.62 million while it was down less than 20% in the U.K. down to $1.27 million on 438 screens over the weekend and $7.32 million in total.
- Paris opened in first place in France with $5.28 million on 482 screens, which was the vast majority of the film's $5.40 million opening on 492 screens in 2 markets.
- Recep Ivedik opened in first place in Turkey with an outstanding $5.33 million on 230 screens, which was more than ten times its nearest competitor.
- No Country For Old Men grew by more than 25% this past weekend, but it wasn't quite able to reach the top ten with $5.14 million on 1506 screens in 31 markets for a total of $37.40 million. The film opened in fourth place in Italy with $1.68 million on 264 screens, but this was just inline with expectations.
- The Chaser climbed into first place in South Korea growing by 23% to $4.83 million on 476 screens over the weekend for a total of $10.14 million.
- Jodhaa Akbar was hit at the box office during its second week of release, just like most Indian films. It fell 48% o $4.24 million on 1044 screens in 15 markets for a total of $16.23 million, which is more than enough to call it a hit already.
- L: Change the World expended into South Korea grabbing third place with $1.07 million on 299 screens $1.35 million. It remained in first place in Japan with $2.57 million on 342 screens over the weekend and $18.52 million after three, while overall it landed in 14 place with $4.23 million on 684 screens over the weekend and $22.73 million in total.
- Die Wilden Kerle 5, Die Wild Bunch 5, opened in first place in Germany and 15th overall scoring $4.09 million on 851 screens. This is inline with the other films in the soccer franchise, which has shown remarkable strength over five years and shows no sign of slowing down.
- There Will Be Blood held on very well in the U.K. down less than 10% to $992,000 on 137 screens over the weekend for a total of $3.39 million. Overall it added $4.08 million on 801 screens in 30 markets for a total of $10.35 million, mostly in limited or semi-limited release.
- Earth remained in the top 20 with $3.95 million on 703 screens in 4 markets for a total of $48.22 million. So far the film has made $20.62 million, including $525,000 on 254 screens this last week. Meanwhile in Germany, the film slipped into second place but still earned a massive $3.33 million on 403 screens for a total of $10.91 million after three weeks.
- P.S. I Love You fell 40% to $3.79 million on 1614 screens in 31 markets for a total of $72.33 million. The film was hurt by the lack of major new openings, and it won't open in many more markets till May when it finishes its run in Japan.
- No major openings hurt 27 Dresses, as it fell from 5th place to 19th place with $3.72 million on 1599 screens in 23 markets for a total of $28.26 million internationally.
- Charlie Wilson's War climbed one spot to 20th with $3.46 million on 1467 screens in 34 markets of a total of $36.67 million. The film opened in second place in Spain with $1.61 million on 255 screens, which is better than average for the film.
- We Are From the Future opened in first place in Russia with $2.77 million on 470 screens while it made $3.06 million on 515 screens in 3 markets in total.
- Cloverfield had one of the worst performance in the top 30 down 55% to $3.02 million on 2098 screens in 44 markets for a total of $74.18 million.
- Be Kind Rewind made its debut on the international charts this week opening in second place in the U.K. with $2.73 million on 360 screens, which was enough for 23rd place overall.
- Atonement returned to the charts in 24th plac ewith $2.65 million on 1540 screens in 45 markets for a total of $69.66 million so far. The film opened in South Korea with $607,000 on 166 screens over the weekend and $726,000 in total, which was enough for fifth place.
- Parlami D'Amore fell to third place in Italy and 25th place overall with $2.44 million on 552 screens over the weekend and $9.48 million overall.
- Alvin And The Chipmunks added $2.43 million on 1458 screens in 13 markets for a total of $130.55 million during its international run. This is well below its domestic total, but more than enough to make the studio happy.
- The Kite Runner remained in 27th place with $1.94 million on 603 screens in 23 markets for a total of $28.10 million.
- Vantage Point opened in first place in Mexico with $829,000 on 300 screens. Adding in smaller market and it made $1.79 million on 522 screens in 6 markets during its international debut earning 28th place in the process.
- CJ7 took a massive hit this weekend down 66% to $1.74 million on 671 screens in 8 markets, but it has already made $42.39 million, which is more than twice the high estimate for the production budget.
- Keinohrhasen landed in 30th place with $1.73 million on 707 screens in 3 markets for a total of $55.28 million. Of that total, $50.23 million has come from Germany, including $1.62 million on 639 screens this past weekend.
