Per Theater Average Victory is no Walk in the Park

March 11, 2008

Paranoid Park opened in first place on the per theater chart with an average of $14,914. The only other film to cross $10,000 was the overall box office leader, 10,000 B.C., with an average of $10,518.

Snow Angels was the best of the rest, pulling in an average of $7,124 in two theaters. Married Life also did well with $56,000 in 9 theaters for an average of $6,206 while Blindsight earned $5,279 in one. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day opened with nearly $2.5 million in 535 theaters for an average of $4,656, which is good enough to please theater owners who had booked the film, but probably not enough to encourage more to do the same. Next up was Girls Rock! with an average of $4,246 in seven theaters. Fighting for Life earned $3,423 in one theater while CJ7 earned nearly $50,000 in 19 theaters for an average of $2,619.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Band's Practice finally reached $1 million after a month of release.
  • Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day opened with more than $2 million and will have little trouble hitting more milestones by the weekend.
  • In Bruges has made it to $4 million and will reach $5 million by this time next week.
