Yangtze is not Up the Creek on the Per Theater Chart

The Canadian documentary, Up the Yangtze, led the way on the per theater chart this week scoring $15,851 in its lone theater. Holly was just a tiny percent behind with $15,687, also in one theater. The final resident of the $10,000 club was Roman de Gare, which earned an average of $12,742 in two theaters.

Then She Found Me opened with a solid average of $8,066 while Standard Operating Experience earned $7,054. Both have room to expand. Without the King and Tashan opened with nearly identical averages of $4,237 and $4,016 respectively, but widely different totals, as the former debuted in 1 theater and the latter in 75. Dare Not Walk Alone was the final film to finish above the Mendoza Line but still opened weakly with $3,086. A Plumm Summer opened with and average of $927 in 58 theaters, while Rogue and Deal finished off the new releases with $771 and $706 respectively.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Priceless reached its first milestone, but $1 million might be the last for the film.
  • The Counterfeiters managed to top $4 million over the weekend and $5 million is in its grasp.
  • Shine a Light hit $4 million very early in the weekend and is nearly halfway to $5 million.
