There were five new releases to reach the top 30 on the rental chart this week, including the overall leader, 27 Dresses. That film started its home market run with in $7.35 million in rentals, which was as expected, given its domestic box office. Second place went to His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass with $6.46 million during its opening week, which is disappointing compared to its production budget, but in line with its domestic box office. Last week's winner, Cloverfield, fell to third with $6.21 million over the week for a two-week total of $13.72 million. Juno has topped $20 million during its home market run and earned $5.66 million for the week and $20.97 million in total. The final film in the top five was Charlie Wilson's War, which added $5.52 million for a total of $12.19 million after just two weeks.

Hero Wanted did extremely well for a direct-to-DVD release, placing 10th with $3.79 million. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly opened in 20th place with $2.66 million and it will easily top its domestic box office. How She Move was the last new release to chart with $2.02 million.
