DVD Rentals - New Releases Go Mad

Mad Money was one of three new releases to reach the top five on the rental chart this week. In fact, it led all releases with $7.33 million and should have little trouble matching its theatrical total before long. Untraceable placed a close second with $6.88 million, but that was significantly weaker than Mad Money when compared to their respective theatrical runs. P.S., I Love You was the best of the holdovers, down 17% to $5.92 million for the week, to raise its total to $13.09 million after two. Like it did on the sales chart, The Great Debaters opened in fourth place, in this case earning $5.47 million during its first week. The final film in the top five was 27 Dresses with $4.96 million for the week and $18.39 million after three.

The only other new release to chart was Numb, which placed 17th with $2.45 million. That's very good for a Canadian direct-to-DVD release.
