New releases were not as plentiful on the rental charts as they were on the sales chart this week, but we still had a new number one as What Happens in Vegas... generated about 35% more than last week's number one rental, Street Kings. Slipping a spot to third was Prom Night, which was well back of the top two. Smart People and The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior were very close behind, as the two films remained in fourth and fifth places respectively.

There was a trio of other new releases to chart this week, and all of them were limited releases theatrically. Redbelt just missed the top five earning seventh place while August opened in 14th place. Finally, Son of Rambow opened in 17th place, which is good for a limited release, but I thought it would do better than the other two limited releases that charted this week.
