An absolutely huge list of movie sites this week, however, out of the more than a dozen sites on this week's list, most have just the basics, plus a few video clips. It's really hard to get excited about that. In fact, the only site that stood out was Eagle Eye's Official Site, but even here it felt too slick and lacked the substance needed to win the Weekly Website Award.
All Roads Lead Home - Official Site
Just the basics with a couple of clips used as intros to the various sections. There's nothing here that makes it stand out, either good or bad. This is true of most site's on this week's list.
The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela - Official Site
All the usual features, minus the bios, but there is a section on the music, which includes nearly two dozen songs.
Choke - Official Site
Typical Fox Searchlight movie site. Plenty of information, but in a format that lessens its impact. I just wish the studio would give each movie site an individual touch.
Eagle Eye - Official Site
All of the usual features are here, plus a clip and a section called Enter the Experience. This final section is clearly the heart of the site, but while it is slick, it is not satisfying. On a side note, I don't think it is possible to construct a makeshift parachute in 10 seconds and survive a fall from 1000 feet into water. I guess that seems like a petty complaint given the popcorn nature of the movie.
Forever Strong - Official Site
The usual features are here, as well as a lot of videos. This includes a few viral videos on YouTube (basically having rugby players jumping in with other sports, like golf). There are also several behind the scenes clips, which is a lot more than most other sites on this week have.
Fireproof - Official Site
All the usual features are here, plus a lot of video clips includes scenes from the movie and behind-the-scenes featurettes. There is also a heavy focus on the message of the movie, which is too heavy-handed for crossover appeal. Additionally, the trailer looks really bad.
Humboldt County - Official Site
Another site will all of the usual features, this one also features a short promo video hosted by the writer / director team of Darren Grodsky and Danny Jacobs. It's better than most and would make a good feature on the DVD.
Johnny Got His Gun - Official Site
Has the feel of a limited release. There's nothing wrong with the content, but there's not a lot of polish here.
The Lucky Ones - Official Site
Just the trailer and the bios. That's it.
Miracle at St. Anna - Official Site
Just the basics plus four clips from the movie. There is also not enough style to stand out, especially with such a busy week.
Nights in Rodanthe - Official Site
Just the basics plus a music video. There is a featurette, but it is marked coming soon, however, I have a hard time imagining that the featurette would be amazing enough to lift this site past mediocre.
Obscene - No Official Site
Nothing to review.
Shoot on Sight - Official Site
All of the usual features, plus a featurette on the film's reaction from its debut at the 4th Annual Dubai Film Festival.
Smother - Official Site
Just the basics, plus several clips you can download. However, it doesn't look very appealing and it lacks any sense of style.
Trainwreck: My Life as an Idiot - No Official Site
Nothing to review, which is a shame, since I want official confirmation whether it is spelled Idiot or Idoit in the title.
Whaledreamers - Official Site
Typical documentary site. Additionally, it is an advocacy documentary, so the site spend a great deal of time talking about its message, and less time talking about the movie. There's not wrong with this, but it does tend to result in preaching to the choir.
