Frost/Nixon had one of the best openings of the year, earning a per theater average of $60,236 in three theaters. Second place on the per theater chart was Milk with an average of $18,534 in just a hair under 100 theaters. Slumdog Millionaire is showing incredible legs and earned an average of $17,977 theaters in 78 theaters while My Name is Bruce rounded out the $10,000 club with $17,214 in one theater, the best weekend of its run.

There were no other new releases that came that close to $10,000, but A Good Day to be Black and Sexy was the closest, earning $6,141 in one theater. (On a side note, I love the title of this movie. It might become my new personal motto, even though I am neither black, nor sexy.) Don Carlo and Cadillac Records were neck and neck with averages of $5,567 and $5,023. Ciao said hello to $2,672 and Amexicano took in $2,245. Hunger just missed the $2,000 mark with $1,980 while Staub managed $1,412. Way further back was Nobel Son with an average of just $374. If it is still playing in 100 or more theaters in two weeks, I would be shocked.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

• Let the Right One In made it to $1 million, which is a lot better than most horror films do, not to mention it's a foreign language film.
• Milk made it to $2 million during midweek, $3 million early in the weekend, and $4 million by the end of the weekend. It is far from done.
• Slumdog Millionaire reached $4 million on Friday and $5 million on Sunday.
