The final guild to hand out its awards was WGA, which did so last night. There were nearly 30 awards handed out, but only three for theatrical releases, and yes, Slumdog Millionaires was among the winners.

Original Screenplay

• Dustin Lance Black for Milk

• Simon Beaufoy for Slumdog Millionaires

• Ari Folman for Waltz with Bashir

• Dustin Lance Black winning for Milk is not exactly a surprise, but that was a close category.
• One the one hand, Best Adapted Screenplay had a lot of excellent films to choose from. On the other hand, it just seems to be Slumdog Millionaires' year.
• I'm not surprised Waltz with Bashir won, but this doesn't help with prognosticating, as the film was passed over for the Oscar.
