DVD Rentals - Rent-a-Cop

There were not as many new releases to crack the top 30 on this week's rental chart as there were on this week's sales chart; however, the same film, Paul Blart - Mall Cop, topped both lists. It did so with roughly 50% more revenue than Valkyrie earned during its opening, which just topped what Taken earned during its second weekend of release. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button slipped into third place, just ahead of Underworld - Rise of the Lycans.

Just missing the top five during its opening was My Blood Valentine 3D, which placed sixth.

Total rentals were down 4.0% from last week to $159.8 million, but that was 13.3% higher than the same week last year. For the past two months, gains have been more common than losses, which is great news.
