DVD Rentals - Madea and Friday are not so Gran(d)

Like it did on the sales chart, Gran Torino was able to top all new releases on the rental chart repeating in first place. Madea Goes to Jail opened in second place 40% behind the number one film, and just a couple percentage points above third place Friday the 13th. He's Just Not That Into You and The International were neck-and-neck in four and fifth places respectively.

There were no other new releases to reach the top 30 this week.

Overall rentals were down 2.8% to $137.7 million; however, that was still 12.9% higher than the same weekend last year. This means for five of the last seven weeks, there has been double-digit growth compared to last year. Also, 2009 hasn't fallen behind 2008's pace in two full months.
