(500) Days of Summer led the way on the per theater chart with an outstanding average of $30,907, which was nearly twice as much as the second placed film.
That honor went to the overall box office champion film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which earned an average of $17,997.
Alien Trespass skyrocketed into third place with $14,405 in one theater thanks to special screenings at the Fantasia Montreal Film Festival.
The final film to reach the $10,000 mark was A Woman in Berlin with $12,439, also in one theater.
There were a few other new releases that were strong performers, including Somers Town with $7,452 in one theater while The Way We Get By was right behind with $7,149, also in one theater.
The Wonder of it All earned $19,000 in three theaters for an average of $6,329.
The final new release was Death in Love with an average of $3,574 in four theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
- Cheri reached $2 million over the weekend, barely, and $3 million might be attainable, or it might not.
It could be close.
- Food, Inc. made it to $2 million over the weekend and it has a shot at $3 million, which is very good for a documentary.
- The Hurt Locker also hit $2 million over the weekend.
It should still expand, which will make further milestones quite easy to reach.
- Moon topped $2 million since last week and it should reach $3 million by this time next week.
