We have a new champion on the Per Theater Chart with The Fantastic Mr. Fox leading the way with an average of $66,475 in four theaters.
Precious expanded into more than 100 additional theaters but still pulled in an amazing average of $33,762, which was enough for second place.
La Danse climbed to $28,104, while playing again in a single theater (albeit now on two screens).
The overall box office leader, 2012, opened with an average of $19,165 in just over 3,400 theaters.
Uncertainty only earned mixed reviews, but it scored $13,075 in its lone theater.
The End of Poverty? was richly rewarded with $12,593 in its solitary theater.
Two other new releases were neck-and-neck with Four Season Lodge earning $11,667 while The Messenger managed an average of $11,131.
We only have numbers for two other new limited releases with Dare earning an average of $6,600 in two theaters and William Kunstler - Disturbing the Universe earning an average of $5,161, also in two theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:
- Boondock Saints 2 - All Saints Day continue to expanded, and earned more than $1 million over the past weekend alone.
It has now pulled in $2 million and is already halfway to $3 million.
With a production budget reported at $8 million, it has a ways to go before it will be profitable, but it should get there.
- As expected, An Education topped $3 million over the weekend and it will have no trouble getting to $4 million before long.
- At the end of last weekend, Precious had earned nearly $2 million.
Over this weekend it earned more than $5 million, and it could reach the $10 million milestone before the weekend.
