Care Bears, like its fellow American Greetings franchise, Strawberry Shortcake, has been around for a long time and has seen its popularity ebb and flow over the years. Care Bears is a brightly animated show that should entertain pre-school kids. Share-a-Lot in Care-a-Lot has no extras, but the four episodes worth of stories is good value for the money.
There are no extras, nor are there subtitles or proper chapter placements. (In fact, each 10-minute episode is one chapter.) There is a play-all button, but that's it for DVD authoring.
Grizzle continues to scheme to take over Care-a-Lot because he thinks caring is illogical. His latest plan involves building the smartest robot, Big Brain. However, because Grizzle cares about taking over Care-a-Lot, he must be a Care Bear and she throws him out of his own castle. That's not the worst of it, as she decides to complete his plan and take over Care-a-Lot.
The Care Bears have a lot of chores to get through and because of this, no one can play with Bumpity and Tweazles. These two then come up with a plan: speed up the clock so everyone will work faster. There's no way this plan will backfire.
It's a great day for Share Bear because she finally gets to harvest her Root Bear plant. From the roots of the Root Bear plant, you can make a Root Bear Float, which actually causes Care Bears to float. However, despite having the biggest root she's ever seen, there's still not enough to go around.
In their role of teaching kids the value of sharing, the Care Bears encounter a tough case, a girl named McKenna. She has issues with sharing. Will she learn his lesson in time to help the Care Bears take on Grizzle?
After Funshine teases Bedtime about being so tired every morning, Funshine agrees to follow Bedtime around during his job so he knows how hard it is.
Love-a-Lot Bear creates a new fountain that all the Care Bears love, so she has it moved to the center of town so everyone can enjoy it. This confuses McKenna, who is still having trouble with the whole "sharing" concept. Grizzle decides to use this to take over Care-a-Lot by first giving them a gift, then offering them an even bigger gift that is really just a trap.
This episode serves as the introduction of Bumpity and Tweazle, two cloud-like creatures who are known as Nimbettes. When they first show up, they try to go unnoticed by mimicking all of Oopsy Bear's friends, much to his dismay.
It's Surprise Day and Harmony Bear is not happy. She's the only Care Bear that doesn't like surprises, and for good reason. Seriously, there's nothing in the world that is made better by being a surprise.
