Filling the Void

January 29, 2004

The mountain climbing documentary, Touching the Void, topped this week's Per Theatre Average chart. The film earned almost $100 thousand in just 5 theatres for an impressive average of $19,395. That was nearly double the second place contender, Empathy, which took in $11,975 in its only theatre.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:

Girl with a Pearl Earring crossed $2 million some time during the mid-week.
The Cooler was able to cross $5 million by the end of the weekend, but by the slimmest of margins.
Also topping $5 million was The Station Agent.
With a Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination, Monster will see a lot more milestones down the road. This week it nearly doubled its total box office crossing $6 million.
House of Sand and Fog crossed $10 million last weekend, and earned 3 Oscar nominations on Tuesday.
