The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss: There's Nothing to Fear in Here - Buy from Amazon

The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. Say that name again. Most people reading this will be mispronouncing it. Dr. Seuss does not rhyme with goose, but voice. The mispronunciation is so common that it is the accepted one. Also, Dr. Seuss / Mother Goose. It's a good association to have for this type of work. The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss is a kids show that uses many of the characters from the collected works of Dr. Seuss, most notably the Cat in the Hat, and is produced by the Jim Henson Company. Dr. Seuss and the Jim Henson Company combining forces. That sets up some high expectations.

The Show

There's Nothing to Fear in Here presents three episodes

  1. There's Nothing to Fear in Here
There's a storm outside so the Cat in the Hat and his three younger cats are stuck inside, along with Terrence McBird, who is very afraid of the storm. When the lights go out, things are only scarier for Terrence, but the Cat in the Hat has plenty of games and stories to chase the fears away.
  2. The Blag-Bludder Beast
After tricking the three little cats with a scary mask, The Cat in the Hat tells the trio a story of Yertle the Turtle who was thrown out of his town, again. While leaving, he falls into the garbage pit that is the home of the Blag-Bludder Beast. At first he is mistaken for being said beast, and then people think he defeated the beast, so now he's treated as a hero. This quickly goes to his head.
  3. Norval the Great
We meet Binky, a young boy, and his pet goldfish, Norval. Norval the Great. Binky tells the story of how he meet Norval (Norval was hitchhiking) and then tells of all of the adventures the two had together. But it can't be true, can it?

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD.

The Verdict

Cat in the Hat, Grinch, Yertle the Turtle, are just some of the Dr. Seuss' famous characters to make appearances in this show. The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss should please both fans of Dr. Seuss's stories, and of Jim Henson's puppet legacy. There's Nothing to Fear in Here only has three episodes, but it also only costs $8 on Amazon.com, which is a hard price to beat.
