The Oscars weren't the only award celebration held over the weekend as the IFP Independent Spirit Awards were also handed out. Lost in Translation was the big winner but plenty of other talent was rewarded.

Best Female Lead: Charlize Theron in Monster

Best Supporting Female: Shohreh Aghdashloo in House of Sand and Fog

Best Supporting Male: Djimon Hounsou in In America

Best First Feature: Monster

John Cassavetes Award for Best Feature made for under $500,000: The Station Agent

Best First Screenplay: The Station Agent

Best Debut Performance: Nikki Reed in Thirteen

Best Cinematography: In America

Best Foreign Film: Whale Rider from New Zealand

Best Documentary: The Fog of War

Producers Award: Mary Jane Skalski for The Station Agent and The Jimmy Show
Turning Leaf Someone To Watch Award: Andrew Bujalski for Funny Ha Ha
DIRECTV / IFC Truer Than Fiction Award: Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk for Lost Boys of Sudan

21 Grams was also given a Special Distinction Award for its independent spirit, but because its budget was above the IFP guidelines it was not eligible for the normal awards.
