It's a Sign of the Apocalypse, I Hope

March 17, 2004

The reality-TV game show-esque film Games People Play came in first on the Per Theatre Average charts. It earned, well maybe not earned but made $12,346 in its lone theatre over the weekend.

There has been a remarkable turnaround on the per theatre charts. Just two weeks ago half the top ten had been in release for a month or more. This week half the Top Ten are new openings. However, films like Monsieur Ibrahim and Latter Days have both been in release for more than a month.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:

The NC-17 rating given to The Dreamers hasn't hurt its box office as it topped $2 million during mid-week.
The winner for Best Documentary, Fog of War crossed $3 million.
The Gospel of John made it to $4 million nearly 3 months after hitting $3 million.
Girl with a Pearl Earring surpassed $10 million very early last week.
Monster crossed $30 million, also very early last week.
