Yo Gabba Gabba!: Music Makes Me Move - Buy from Amazon

The further adventures of DJ Lance and his Yo Gabba Gabba friends: Muno, Toodee, Brobee, Plex, Foofa. Fans of the show should know exactly what to expect from these DVD releases, four episodes. But what four episodes are included? And do any of them stand out?

  1. Band
The Band friends come to Gabbaland and rock out for the gang. They are so good that Plex makes instruments for them so they can be in a band as well. It takes a lot of practice to get good, but they get to play back-up for Lady Tigra, before eventually making a hit song of their own, with DJ Lance's help.
  2. Move
I swear I've reviewed this episode. (Maybe it was part of a Nick Jr. mixed show DVD.) In the episode, we learn about different ways to move, like skipping, skateboarding, and of course dancing.
  3. Differences
We learn to love the things that make us different, like glasses. On a side note, shouldn't Muno where a monocle? If anyone could pull it off without looking pretentious, it would be Muno. Maybe if he were wearing a monocle and a top hat he would look pretentious.
  4. Train
The gang's going on a train ride, but before they can do that, they have to build the train, and that will take teamwork. When all the work is done, Muno is scared to climb aboard. Will his friends help him get the courage he needs?
Several of the recurring bits make appearances in these episodes, including Story Time, Mark's Magic Pictures, Biz's Beat of the Day, Cool Tricks, and of course, Dancey Dance Time. Some of the dancers featured on this DVD are boxer Laila Ali, skateboarder Tony Hawk and Hip Hop artist Lady Tigra.

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD.

The Verdict

The music for Yo Gabba Gabba! is surprisingly good when compared to most shows aimed at preschoolers. When they concentrate on the music, like on Music Makes Me Move in general and on the episode Band, the show is at its peak, at least in my opinion. The price-per-minute is acceptable for this type of show, but without any extras, it's hard to be more enthusiastic than that.
