Nickelodeon Favorites: Dance to the Music - Buy from Amazon

Nickelodeon puts out countless DVDs every year, including several featuring various shows. Dance to the Music is the latest such release, but it stands out, as it is the first time one of their newest shows, Bubble Guppies, is coming out on DVD. What are the other shows / episodes found on the DVD? And is it worth picking up?

The Show

  1. Dora the Explorer: La Maestra de Musica
Dora and Boots are heading off to school when they see Boots' music teacher riding her bike to school. After the three of them sing a song, the teacher has to race off to get to school before the kids, but the chain on her bike breaks. How will she get there in time? Maybe The Map knows a shortcut.
  2. Team Umizoomi: Butterfly Dance
Milli is going to be in a school show and she's going to do her Butterfly Dance. Her friend, Sophia, is going to be the star of the show. Sophia calls because her costume isn't finished. Fortunately, Milli, Geo, and Bot are there to help.
  3. Bubble Guppies: We Totally Rock
The show takes place underwater in the world of Bubble Guppies, I.E. mermaids. The main characters are all preschoolers: Molly, Gil, Goby, Deema, Oona, and Nonny. They go to school and are taught by Mr. Grouper, while there are various other undersea life forms they interact with (including Gil's puppy, Bubble Puppy). This episode starts with Gil and Goby seeing a couple lobsters playing Rock'n'Roll, and for the rest of the episode we see short skits about music.
  4. Go, Diego, Go!: The Iguana Song
It's winter in the desert and Desert Iguanas are digging tunnels to hibernate in. However, one of the iguanas, Iggy, is missing. When Diego searches for him, he finds him lost in a cave. Now he needs to be rescued.
  5. Wonder Pets: Save the Beetles & Save the Fiddler Crab on the Roof
In the first half, the Wonder Pets have to rescue some Liverpudlian Beetles whose yellowish submarine has become entangled in some seaweed. In the second half, they have to save a Fiddler Crab, who is on a roof, which is a very dangerous place for a crab to be. (The title is obviously a play on Fiddler on the Roof, the famous Yiddish story that has been a musical, stage production, book, etc. Halfway through this episode I thought to myself, "Hang on, crabs aren't kosher." Total destroyed my suspension of disbelief.)
  6. Ni Hao, Kai-lan: The Ants Dance
Kai-lan is watching the ants dance and decides they are so good that they should put on a show. It will take a lot of work, but with Kai-lan agree to help them, but she'll need all of her friend, including you, to help out.

The Extras

There are sing-along versions for two of the Bubble Guppies songs.

The Verdict

Nickelodeon Favorites: Dance to the Music has a better price-per-minute than a lot of similar DVD releases for preschoolers. Plus, it's the first chance to get Bubble Guppies on DVD, so if your kids are fans of that show, it is worth picking up.
