Per Theater Chart: Sleepwalk Runs to the Top

August 29, 2012

Sleepwalk With Me found its way on top of the per theater chart with $68,801 in one theater. This is higher than the per theater average for the opening of The Avengers, which was the goal of the filmmakers after their fake fight with Joss Whedon. Samsara opened with an average of $38,111 in two theaters. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Space Station with $14,268 in one theater.

There were a couple other new releases to do quite well with Little White Lies earning just over $25,000 in three theaters for an average of $8,551. Somewhere Between was greatly limited by theater size, but still managed $7,799 on one screen. Wild Horse, Wild Ride opened with $3,610 in one theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Celeste and Jesse Forever just crossed $1 million over the weekend. It might get to $2 million, but its per theater average is low enough that it might not get there.
  • Ruby Sparks got to $2 million over the weekend, but its per theater average is low enough that going any further is unlikely.
  • Ek Tha Tiger topped $2 million over the weekend, while it has a small shot at $3 million.
  • 2016: Obama's America earned more than $5 million over the weekend alone, while its running tally is very close to $10 million.
  • The Intouchables surpassed $10 million since this time last week. That is an incredible run for a foreign language film.
