The Best Red vs. Blue DVD. Ever. Of All Time - Buy from Amazon
Machinima is animation that uses the animation from video games to tell original stories. This has been around for almost as long as 3D animation in video games has been around. For nearly 10 years, Red vs. Blue has been one of the most popular franchises in this medium and its tenth season comes out on DVD and Blu-ray in November. In the meantime, they've released a Best Of DVD. Is it worth picking up?
While this is a Best of DVD, it is not your typical Best of DVD. Instead of just showing some of the best episodes of the series, the DVD is presented as an Awards Show ceremony with the characters introducing awards, such as Best Fail, Best Running Joke, Best Fight, etc. Some of the clips are merely seconds long, or a string of clips that are each a few seconds long. These are usually very funny, but sometimes they lack context. On the other hand, there are several complete episodes and even some full mini-series. Overall, there's about two and a half hours of footage here, which is more than enough to be worth checking out. Also, on Amazon.com, it's just $5, which is an excellent price-per-minute. When I saw it was just $5, I assumed the DVD would be 30 minutes long, maybe an hour tops.
There are no extras on the DVD.
If you are a fan of Red vs. Blue, then the The Best Red vs. Blue DVD. Ever. Of All Time is a must have. It's hard to top two and a half hours of entertainment for just $5.
