Producers Guild of America announced their nominations this week, including the three theatrical categories. There were a number of films on the list that have been mentioned time and time again this awards season, like Zero Dark Thirty, but there were also a few surprises.

THEATRICAL MOTION PICTURE

• Life of Pi
• Lincoln
• Les Miserables
• Moonrise Kingdom
• The Silver Linings Playbook
• Skyfall
• Zero Dark Thirty

• Brave
• Frankenweenie
• ParaNorman
• Rise of the Guardians
• Wreck-It Ralph

• The Gatekeepers
• The Island President
• The Other Dream Team
• A People Uncounted
• Searching for Sugar Man

• Most films on this list have previously earned nominations, and no one should be surprised Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln, Django Unchained, and some others are on this list.
• Both Skyfall and Beasts of the Southern Wild are surprise nominees. This is the first Bond movie to earn a PGA nomination, while I thought Beasts would have slipped below the radar.
• When sorting alphabetically, does Les Miserables start with an L or an M?
• ParaNorman was passed over for the Golden Globes, but earned a nod here. On the other hand, Pirates! was snubbed, again.
• The documentary list has more surprises than safe predictions. Bully, How to Survive a Plague, Jiro Dreams of Sushi were all worthy of recognition, at least in my opinion.
