Per Theatre Chart is Full of Grace
|
It was a busy week on the per theatre charts, both in terms of the number of films to hit $10,000 per theatres and the number of films to hit milestones. Surprisingly, Maria Full of Grace repeated at the top of the per theatre chart with $19,562, which is a drop of only 1.5% from its opening. Next was the overall box office champ, Bourne Supremacy with a $16,595 average in 3,165 theatres. Very close behind in third place was Zatoichi with $15,276. Rounding out the $10,000 club was Home at the End of the World and Festival Express with averages of $12,946 and $12,074 respectively.
This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:
- The Story of the Weeping Camel continues its steady pace reaching $1 million after 8 weeks of release.
- The Door in the Floor just missed $10,000 per theatre when it opened, but that hasn't stop it from earning $1 million in just two week.
- Before Sunset hit $2 million on Friday, but its weekend numbers may have peaked already.
- As expected, The Clearing saw its weekend take plummet by more than 50%, but it had already made $4 million during the mid-week. And $5 million is just $64 thousand away.
- De-Lovely box office continues to grow, crossing $3 million during the week and $4 million over the weekend. At the end of the weekend, the film was less than $50,000 from hitting $5 million.
- Despite more than doubling its theatre count, Napoleon Dynamite's per theatre average dropped a minuscule $58. And this helped the film it cross $5 million at the box office and it currently sits at $6.5 million.
