Nickelodeon Favorites: Once Upon a Rhyme - Buy from Amazon

I've lost track of the number of DVDs from the Nickelodeon Favorites label that I've reviewed. The latest is Once Upon a Rhyme, which features six episodes with a fairytale theme, starting with...

The Show

  1. Bubble Guppies: Whose Gonna Play the Big Bad Wolf?
Deema sees a theater group rehearsing for a rendition of The Three Little Pigs and she decides she wants to be an actor.
  2. Team Umizoomi: The Umi City Treasure Hunt
Milli, Geo, and Bot are pretending to be Pirates while they are at the beach. They run into Squarebeard the Treasure and he gives them a treasure. But first they will need to find the three keys they need to open the treasure chest.
  3. The Fresh Beat Band: Royal Wedding
There's going to be a Royal Wedding and the Fresh Beat Band are really excited, because the Royal procession is going to be going down their street. When they meet the Princess (Erin Sanders) she recognizes them and wants them to play at her wedding... except she's called off the wedding. It's up to the Fresh Beat Band to get the wedding back on track.
  4. Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Three Little Piggies
Dora and Boots go to Fairytale Land, which is where all of the Fairytales take place. When Dora starts reading the story of the three little pigs, they are scared, because some of their bricks for their brick hut are missing. Dora and Boots agree to help get them back.
  5. Wonder Pets: Help the Cow Jump Over the Moon / Help the Unicorn
In the first part, the Wonder Pets get a call from a cow, but not just any cow, but one who needs to jump over the moon. In the second part, a unicorn is stuck because it rammed its horn into a tree. Obviously not the smartest Unicorn in land.
  6. Blue's Room: Little Red Riding Blue
Blue and Sprinkles want to play Little Red Riding Hood and Joe decides he wants to be the wolf.

The Extras

Like most other such DVDs, there are no extras on this one.

The Verdict

Nickelodeon Favorites: Once Upon a Rhyme has six episodes for just over $12, so the price-per-minute is decent for this type of release. On the other hand, there are no extras and if your child only likes some of the shows, the value quickly drops.
