Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness - Good Croc, Bad Croc - Buy from Amazon

Kung Fu Panda debuted in theaters in 2008. It earned great reviews and became a massive hit earning more than $600 million worldwide. Kung Fu Panda 2 earned reviews that were almost as strong, while its worldwide box office was bigger. Given its success, it makes complete sense that the movie was turned into a TV show. Does it work on the small screen?

The Show

  1. Good Croc, Bad Croc
After Po is made fun of by the Furious Five for being too gullible, he falls into a pit trap. He is rescued by, Fung, a Crocodile bandit. However, when Fung comes to Po for help rescuing his brother, Po doesn't know if he can trust him. He certainly doesn't want the Furious Five to know he's helping a bad guy. But can he trust Fung? Or is he being gullible again?
  2. The Princess and the Po
Po, Tigress, and Mantis have to escort a princess, Mei Li, who is on a peace mission. At first Po is excited, because kids love him. However, Mei Li is unlovable. Will Po win her over before they reach their destination?
  3. Chain Reaction
Po and Tigress are on an incredibly important mission. They are carrying an important column that needs to be cleaned, because Po spilled some food on it. On the way back, Po pesters Tigress so much that she becomes distracted and the pair get captured by Fung and his band of crocs and they end up chained to each other. Now they have to learn to fight when they are chained together.
  4. Bad Po
While cleaning the archieves, Po touches the Mystical Mirror of Yin and Yang. As a result, Po's evil side is split off from him. Now there are two copies of Po running around: one sweet and one sour.
  5. Jailhouse Panda
Master Shifu learns that the Sacred War Hammer of Lei Lang being held at the temple is a fake and the real one was hidden by Tong Fo before he was sent to prison. Master Shifu wants to send one of the Furious Five undercover, with the aid of a magic egg, but Po goes instead. Master Shifu doesn't send Po, Po goes without telling Master Shifu. He wants to prove he's smart enough to handle an undercover job.
  6. Father Crime
Po and Tigress are traveling when they see Fung and his bandits trying to rob an old man. During the ensuing fight, the old man shows surprising skill in Kung Fu. After the fight, they learn the old man is Shirong, Shifu's father. Po takes an instant liking to Shirong, but the father / son reunion isn't a happy one. It turns out Shirong is a con man and a thief.
  7. Po Fans Out
Po learns he has a fan club and he decides to visit them. His fan club consists of three young kids, but it's hard to tell who is more excited that he's there, Po or his fans. He gives them a tour of some of the places where he has fought, but they want to see him in action. This gives Po an idea: He will summon the Mongolian Fist Demon so he can fight it and show off. It is a really bad idea.

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD; however, there are subtitles, which is sadly rare for a TV on DVD release like this.

The Verdict

Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness is one of the better movie to TV translations. It is better than Madagascar TV show, for instance. Additionally, while the Good Croc, Bad Croc DVD has no extras, it is still good value for the money compared to other TV on DVD releases aimed at kids.
