Movie Websites Launches for August 20 - August 26

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - Official Site, which won also for CountOlaf.com. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
Current Content: Hasn't been an update in a month.

Around the Bend
Current Content: New site with all the features that a movie site should have, plus enough animation to keep the surfer interested.

BloodRayne
Current Content: The second production journal entry was added to the site.

Bright Leaves
Current Content: Standard First Run Features movie site.

The Brown Bunny
Current Content: There's something wrong with this site. There's not much content, but it takes a long time to load. Too long.

Chooch
Current Content: Nothing new for about a month.

Cowboys and Angels
Current Content: Simple site without any sound or animation, outside the trailer. There are also no bios for the cast and crew.

Criminal
Current Content: The downloads section was added leaving just The Buzz marked coming soon. Man, I love the background music on this site.

Enduring Love
Current Content: The site had all the regular features, synopsis, cast and crew bios, trailer, etc. plus just a bit of animation. Sections for reviews and theatres are marked coming soon.

The Final Cut
Current Content: The cast and crew bios are up, so is the synopsis, but it's done is a very unique way. It's hard to explain without talking about the plot of the movie, so I'd suggest checking it out first hand.

The Forgotten
Current Content: The flash site launched and while most of the features are sill marked coming soon, (including cast, crew and character bios, production notes and altered states) the rest of the site is well done with ample animation between sections. I particularly like how the image gallery is displayed as an actual photo album; it's a small touch but adds so much to the site.

Goldfish Memory
Current Content: This site makes good use of limited animation. Specifically, each section has a little intro with a goldfish swimming across a section of the screen as the name of the section gets written out on it. It's a really nice touch. In addition, the site has most of the usual features, synopsis, cast and crew (no bios), trailer, image gallery, etc.

Hero
Current Content: The film opens tomorrow, and the site has a lot of information to read. Synopsis, extensive production notes, cast and crew bios, etc. There are also a massive amount of video to watch, but they are mostly in Cantonese, I think, could be Mandarin.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Current Content: A new Earth Destruction animated intro was added to the site; so far you can destroy the Earth with a bulldozer, cue ball, golf club, use a magic trick to make it disappear, blow it up, turn it off like a TV and now drop a whale on it. If that last one didn't make sense, I suggest reading the novels that the film is adapted from. It still won't make sense, but at least you'll know why it's on the site. Also added was a fairly lengthy entry in the production journal, this time about Douglas Adams’ family's experiences as extras in the movie.

Ladder 49
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it's a good site, at least on paper. The site has animated intros, audio clips, background music, all the right content, etc. But put it all together and it adds up to a big, "Meh." It's not that it’s a bad site, it's just that I was expecting more.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Current Content: While there was no new updates to the main site, a secondary site was brought to my attention: CountOlaf.com. So far the site has quite a bit of content, opinion poll, (complete with snide remarks), Weblog, image gallery and trailer. Right now it just has the regular trailer from the movie site, but there is a Stupendous Trailer marked coming soon. Also marked coming soon are the Actor's Life and Olaf's Souvenirs sections. Strangely, there are no Eyes to collect on this page, maybe they'll be added later on. The site could use more sound, but thanks to little touches, like the rose peddles on the Image Gallery, the combined sites are the winners of the calamitous Weekly Website Award.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Current Content: Just the trailer so far, but that's enough to make checking the site out worth it.

Riding the Bullet
Current Content: I really like the menu system on this site, and there are lots of animations as well. I just wish the site had some sound. Still, since most of the content is marked coming soon, there's still hope that some background music and some sound effects will be added later on.

Saw
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site.

Stage Beauty
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site.

Super Babies: Baby Geniuses 2
Current Content: Nothing new since last week.

Suspect Zero
Current Content: The movie opens tomorrow and the Interviews and Film Clips are still marked coming soon.

Team America
Current Content: A clip of Trey Parker and Matt Stone answering some questions was added to the site. The more I know about this movie the more I want to see it.

Wimbledon
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it has everything a site should have. Synopsis, cast and crew bios, production notes, image gallery, trailers, etc. It also have a couple of extras like a superstition quiz and a game, (currently marked coming soon.) Combine the content with background music, audio clips and a bit of animation and you have a very good site.
