Movie Websites Launches for September 17 - September 23

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner I Huckabees - Official Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Abominable
Current Content: So far there's just the teaser trailer, four images and the poster.

After the Sunset
Current Content: Another major change in format accompanied by a smaller change in content. New to the site is the synopsis, production notes and cast bios. With a release date that's still more than a month and a half away, this site is coming together nicely. But there are some problems, like the music only plays for a few seconds before fading away so if you want background music you have to keep turning it back on.

Alfie
Current Content: Two of the four features marked coming soon were added: Ask Alfie and Customizable Wallpaper.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera
Current Content: The poster was added to the placeholder site.

Blade: Trinity
Current Content: The new trailer was added to the site just after last week's column was uploaded.

BloodRayne
Current Content: Another director's journal added.

Eternal
Current Content: There have been a few updates since this site first launched and won the Weekly Website Award. For instance, there is some additional trailers and a video clips, including a particularly impressive with the behind the scenes video clip, which wouldn't be out of place as an extra feature on a DVD. Also, the slight problem with the background music was fixed. An all around excellent site.

Eulogy
Current Content: The site has quite a bit of animation for the limited content. So far just the synopsis, production notes, cast and crew (no bios) and image gallery are available. However, the trailer and a few clips are marked coming soon. Each section has a bit of animation, including some mouse over Bobblehead action with most of the characters. However, I must say the background music is too short and becomes a liability too quickly.

The Final Cut
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site, but while the proper trailer is on the placeholder section, the link within the site itself took me to the trailer for Dogville.

First Daughter
Current Content: No changes since the flash site first launched.

The Forgotten
Current Content: No new updates in time for tomorrow's opening.

Friday Night Lights
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and the first thing I noticed was they fixed the looping for the background music. The looping on the placeholder site was really poorly done. So much so that it was a terrible distraction. The content of the site is pretty standard so far, synopsis, cast and crew bios, extensive production notes, image gallery and trailers, (teaser, full and 2 TV spots.) There are a couple of special features including a personality quiz on the site and four other features, (Playbook Powerplay, Dreamteam, Clips and Interviews) marked coming soon.

The Grudge
Current Content: The flash site launched and it consists of an interactive tour of the curse-infected house. It's very interactive and moody, but provides almost no information about the movie. I like it. If it were a little more in-depth, it would be enough to be an award-winning site.

Hair Show
Current Content: The usual features have been added to the site.

Hollywood Buddha
Current Content: Simple site without sound or animation, but it does have a lot of content.

I Huckabees
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it is loaded with video clips. It does have the usual features like synopsis, production notes, cast and crew bios, trailer and so forth. But the highlight of the site are the character sections, each one delves into the character using short clips from the film or the filmmakers to introduce them. Practically everything you click on brings up a short video clip to watch. And this imaginative approach is applied to the smallest touches, like the progress bar doesn't just say Loading, it says I Loading. And with the section for the soundtrack still marked coming soon, there's something to look forward to next week. But this week it is the winner of the abstract Weekly Website Award.

Incantato
Current Content: Very simple site with just the synopsis, image gallery and filmography of the director.

The Incredibles
Current Content: Another trailer was added to the site. Awesome!

Internal Affairs
Current Content: Miramax site.

The Last Shot
Current Content: No new updates since last week when the flash site went live. Good site with plenty of video clips.

The Motorcycle Diaries
Current Content: The new version of the site is much different than the last version. There is a lot more multimedia on the site, but not as much text. And all of the video clips, outside the trailer, are still marked coming soon. But there is a music player that can be used to listen to the soundtrack while you surf.

Polar Express
Current Content: More of the regular features were added to the site, specifically the cast and crew bios, production notes and the rest of the TV spots.

Raise Your Voice
Current Content: Most of the features on the Raise Your Voice Player are now on the regular site as are some more interview clips.

The Ringer
Current Content: Typical Fox Searchlight movie website with the teaser trailer.

Seed of Chucky
Current Content: A new viral marketing team was created called … sigh … called Chucky's Sperm Bank. I'm sure they could have come up with a less appealing name, but it would have taken considerable effort. If you are interested in the movie you should sign up even if you don't want to become a viral marketer because they are usually the best place to get the latest information. For instance, you can check out the full trailer in the AV Room.

Serenity
Current Content: Production on the movie has wrapped up and the latest production journal entry talks about the hell Joss Whedon has been through. Hopefully this means will be getting some more multimedia soon. Teaser trailer perhaps.

Shark Tale
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added, as were the production notes.

Shaun of the Dead
Current Content: The move opens tomorrow but there's still a lot of features marked coming soon. Granted, it's not getting a wide release, so the film should expand its theatre count throughout the next few weeks and the rest of the features should be added then. The features that were added this week were the cast and crew bios as well the image gallery, leaving the behind the scenes, soundtrack and features sections left to be added.

Tarnation
Current Content: Typical Wellspring movie site.

Taxi
Current Content: The game was added to the site.

Team America
Current Content: Four more behind the scenes clips were added to the site. And they definitely make me want to see this film more and more. There are clips on Team America, on the sets and props, Kim Jong Il and lastly how they got a real action cinematographer to be involved in a movie with puppets. You can also check out Kim Jong's Secret Lair!, which has exclusive downloads.

Vera Drake
Current Content: Just the trailer so far.

The Yes Men
Current Content: The site has all the usual feature a documentary site should have, plus it as a lot of video clips to watch.
