Movie Websites Launches for October 8 - October 14

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner A Very Long Engagement - Official Site . If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

2046
Current Content: The Wisdom section was added to the site, which is for the crew bios. That leaves Memories and Dreams to be added.

Alexander
Current Content: After a long wait the flash site was finally launched. Too much of the content it marked coming soon for a final judgement to be made, but what there is, (synopsis, cast and characters, image gallery and trailer) is presented well.

Alfie
Current Content: Cast and crew bios were added to the site, which leaves just the clips marked coming soon.

Being Julia
Current Content: The site has all the usual features and delivers them in a strong fashion. Also, there's great background music.

Brother to Brother
Current Content: So far the site has the synopsis, cast bios and the trailer. Two sections, image gallery and history are marked coming soon.

Christmas with the Kranks
Current Content: Two more of the games were added to the site, a video jigsaw puzzle and Free Frosty. Both are very well done. On a side note, I forgot to mention the snow globe feature last week. By grabbing and shaking the snow globe you can cause it to snow on the site.

The Dust Factory
Current Content: Nothing new since last week.

Eulogy
Current Content: Nothing new was added to coincide with tomorrow's opening.

Fat Albert
Current Content: Just the synopsis and trailer so far.

The Final Cut
Current Content: An unusual site that has very little in the way of traditional content. But the focus of the site is the memory scan, which is an image gallery / menu system.

Hair Show
Current Content: Pretty standard site with all the usual features, but it lacks sound and animation.

Home of the Brave
Current Content: Good information, but a simple presentation. Very standard site for a documentary.

I Am David
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and it is suitably subdued. The site focuses more on the journey taken by the character David and other refugees than it does on regular features, which is a welcome change.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Current Content: There's a new trailer online, but so far it's only available at Apple.com. Quite frankly, I was hoping for more, as this trailer is too much like the teaser trailer. Don’t get me wrong, it is still an effective trailer and movie will most likely be a monster hit.

Madagascar
Current Content: The placeholder site was redesigned and character bios were added, along with some sound and animation.

Marilyn's Man
Current Content: Opening tomorrow, there have been no new updates since it first launched. The site has a lot of information but lacks extras.

National Treasure
Current Content: This is a very interactive flash site. As you explore the site you find, 'clues' to the treasure, (which is extra downloads.) Combined with the amount of sound and animation, (not to mention games and puzzles) and this is a very entertaining site. I have a sinking feeling it could be more entertaining than the movie itself.

P.S.
Current Content: A simple New Market Films' placeholder site.

Polar Express
Current Content: I think we have a new trailer. Still not psyched about the film.

Ray
Current Content: Excellent site with all the usual features plus tons of videos. Trailer, behinds the scenes, 3 TV spots and 9 clips. And the site also has excellent background music, which should come as a shock to nobody. In addition, there is a link to a site dedicated to Ray Charles for more in-depth information.

Riding the Bullet
Current Content: The film opens in limited release tomorrow but many of the features marked coming son when the site first launched are still not there.

The Ring 2
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the site.

Shall We Dance
Current Content: It's a Miramax site. What more do you need to know?

Spin
Current Content: Simple site with just the synopsis, cast list and trailer.

The Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Current Content: The fourth trailer was added to the site. As was the Bubble Busting game.

Team America
Current Content: Another week, another round of updates. 6 clips from the movie were added to the site. You have to check out Kim Jong Il singing I'm so Lonely.

A Very Long Engagement
Current Content: This is an excellent site … I think. Despite being Canadian and taking three years of high school French I don't read a word of it. Well, that's not entirely true. I know one sentence in French, "Mon dieu! Il y a une hache dans ma tete." (Which roughly translates into, "Oh my god! I have an axe in my head!" Strangely, it's never come in handy.) Anyhow, back to the site. There is an amazing amount of information, synopsis, extensive production notes on a variety of subjects like costumes and music, image gallery, trailer and more. Each cast member has a filmography, except Audrey Tautou who also has a an interview and a section called Vue Par, which is French for, "look at." Maybe. Lastly there is a timeline section with several video clips. Despite the language barrier, it is clear to me that this site is the winner of the bilingual Weekly Website Award.
