Limited Releases are doing Incredible Business
|
While it was the overall box office champ, The Incredibles that lead the way on the per theatre charts this week with $17,917, several limited releases are still making noise at the box office. One such movie is Sideways, which managed to stay above the $10,000 per theatre average mark for the third weekend in a row. The film earned more than $1 million over the weekend in just 66 theatres for an average of $15,873.
This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theatre Charts alumnus:
- Vera Drake hit $1 million after five weeks of release.
- Being Julia also made it to $1 million.
- The Motorcycle Diaries made it all the way to $10 million. It's a rare feat for a limited release to last long enough to reach 8 figures.
- Which makes the fact that two films did it this week all the more unusual. I ♥ Huckabees also made it to $10 million, but it is shedding theatres fast.
