DVD Releases for July 28th, 2009 - Part I

July 28th, 2009

We are starting to see the flood of TV on DVD releases that hit the home market this time every year. It makes sense: after all, what better time to release the previous season on DVD than just before the next season starts? Three such releases, The Middleman - The Complete Series, Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series - Blu-ray Box Set, and Dollhouse - Season One - on DVD or Blu-ray are in contention for DVD Pick of the Week. The Battlestar Galactica release is a tad too expensive for most people, while I am unsure of the exact nature of the extras on Dollhouse. It is Summertime on the Per Theater Chart

May 20th, 2009

L'Heure D'Ete, which literally means Summer Time, reigned on top of the Per Theater Chart this weekend with an average of $24,742 in two theaters. It was also one of five films to reach $10,000, which is a sign that summer has truly begun. Second place went to The Brothers Bloom with an average of $22,600, and that is enough to suggest some potential to expand. Angels and Demons opened in first place overall and in third place on this chart with an average of $13,100. Not Forgotten was not far behind, earning an average of $11,192 in three theaters. Finally, Star Trek managed to remain in the $10,000 club for the second weekend in a row, which is very rare for a wide release these days, earning an sophomore average of $11,149. More...

Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of May 15th, 2009

May 16th, 2009

Slow week in terms of movies with just four on this week's list, and only one of them is even worthy of consideration for the Weekly Website Award. That site was Angels and Demons - Official Site, which has more than enough to win. More...

Big List of Limited Releases

May 15th, 2009

No. There's not a big list of limited releases this week, but there is a limited release that is opening big. And another that could become big. And another that has the word 'Big' in its title. And that's it. Just the three films on this week's list. More...
