Contest - New Releases are Killing Me

September 5th, 2008

Tough week to pick the target film for the weekly box office prediction contest, as there are four wide releases, but none of them seem likely to be the new number one film, but it is almost guaranteed that one of them will be. So I'm going with the widest release, which should be Righteous Kill, but it might not be. Regardless which film does open widest, Righteous Kill is the target film and in order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office of Righteous Kill. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going over, will win a copy of Street Kings on DVD, Deal on DVD, and Lobster Tale on DVD. Meanwhile, whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will also win a copy of Street Kings on DVD, Deal on DVD, and Lobster Tale on DVD. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...

Contest - It's Dangerous to go Alone

August 29th, 2008

There's only one wide release next week, so it's easy to choose the target film for this week's box office prediction contest, and that film is Bangkok Dangerous. In order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office of Bangkok Dangerous. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going over, will win a copy of The Little Mermaid on DVD, Deal on DVD, and Meet Bill on DVD. Meanwhile, whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend box office (Friday to Sunday), without going under, will also win a copy of Deal on DVD, as well as Hot Rod on DVD. Additionally, one other entrant will be chosen and they will win the third copy of Deal on DVD, as well as Heading South on DVD. Entries must be received by 10 a.m., Pacific Time on Friday to be eligible, so don't delay! More...

DVD Releases for August 19, 2008, Part I

August 18th, 2008

This is the week that Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour makes its debut on DVD and Blu-ray. This movie was a huge hit theatrically, so it will be interesting to see how well it sells on the home market. However, while it is certainly a very good deal, I'm not sure it is a real contender for DVD Pick of the Week. For that we have to look to Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles on either DVD or Blu-ray, but there are also a few other releases worth checking out. There are are plenty of other releases, so much so that we had to split this week's list into two. Look for part II here. More...
