DVD Releases for December 11, 2007

December 11th, 2007

There's a deceptively weak selection of releases this week. Sure, we have DVDs from Harry Potter, Lost, High School Musical, and The Bourne Identity. However, outside of those four franchises, there are no releases in the top ten at Amazon. In fact, you have to get to 17th place on Amazon's charts to find a new release that isn't related to the big four. That said, all four are worth picking up, for different audiences, and three of the four are contenders for DVD Pick of the Week. It took a bit to narrow it down to one selection, but that is Harry Potter Years 1-5 Limited Edition Gift Set - Blu-Ray. Not only is this release worth getting in High Definition, it is worth upgrading to Blu-Ray for. (Although I still suggest waiting a little while longer for the first 2.0 Players to come out.) Also, I got to give out the rare DVD Puck of the Week to The Rocket - Buy from Amazon. More...

Meanwhile, Across the Universe opened in more theaters, 23, but to a smaller average, $29,034. Finally, In the Valley of Elah managed an average of $14,840 in 9. More...

Few Limited Releases Show Promise

September 14th, 2007

Dozen films on this week's list, but only Eastern Promises has a clear shot at mainstream success. A couple others might do well on the art house circuit, while most won't find an audience till the home market, if that. More...

Movie Website Updates for September 2 - September 8, 2007

September 9th, 2007

Movie Website Updates for August 19 - August 25, 2007

August 25th, 2007

After a few busy weeks in a row, there was a total collapse in the number of sites on this week's list. Not only are there only a couple dozen sites this week, nearly half of them are films that are coming out this week and most of those had no updates to report. This leaves us with no sites that are award-worthy, and precious few that have to potential to make it there in the coming weeks. More...
